ANTidote™ contains Nematodes - a slender microscopic un-segmented worm. They do not affect pets, children, or common garden vegetables such as tomatoes. Additional treatments may be needed for extreme infestations. We recommend treating your lawn and garden in the Spring and in the Fall in order to control most pests.
The time for infestation to be eliminated varies according to soil and weather conditions. Fire ants migrate after a rainfall, and so do the nematodes. Mounding will occur after a rain, but will deplete in 7-10 days if there are enough nematodes in the soil. Although the scavenging habits of the fire ants are inhibited immediately, it takes 2-3 weeks for field mounds to die out and up to 2 months for colonies around trees to die out. When a colony is treated with ANTidote™ nematodes, members of the colony become infected regardless of where they are re-mounding. Flea infestations typically die out in 5-10 days.
